Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Rockport is seeking an Equipment Operator to perform transportation maintenance work operating heavy equipment such as motor graders, excavators, bulldozers, and dump trucks.

The role requires at least 1 year of experience with maintenance or construction equipment, a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License class A with N endorsement, and willingness to work day shifts with on-site location.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience operating maintenance or construction equipment; substitutions allowed for education/ training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic control by placing and gathering cones, signs and barricades.
• Operate heavy equipment such as motor graders, bulldozers, excavators and dump trucks.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and basic repairs on equipment.
• Monitor reports including time-keeping, inventory and PMI checklists.
• May serve as a work crew lead and train others on equipment use and safety.
