Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support road and bridge maintenance in Dorchester County. Responsibilities include operating backhoes, excavators, and other machines, performing skilled manual labor, and ensuring safety in work zones.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A required within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, excavator, front-end loader) for road/bridge construction and repair.
• Assist in drainage, grading, and road surface work within Dorchester County.
• Set up and monitor traffic control in work zones per standards.
• Assist in emergency/inclement weather operations and support extended hours as needed.
