Job summary

Republic Services in Durango, CO is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely run forklifts, excavators, bulldozers and other gear at a recycling facility, landfill or transfer station. You will perform pre- and post-operation checks and help transfer, spread and load waste efficiently.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to OSHA rules, and reliable reporting of equipment issues. You will maintain the shop and complete reports while supporting a team focused on responsible waste

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Ability to adhere to safety policies and maintain professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment and ensure safety standards are met.
• Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Perform minor service on equipment and report needed repairs.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and other required documentation.
• Follow all safety policies and keep the shop clean and organized.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
