Job summary

Republic Services in Lawrence, KS seeks an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station, transferring, spreading, loading and compacting waste or soil as needed.

Responsibilities include pre/post-operation inspections, operating forklift/excavator/bulldozer/front-end loader, reporting repairs, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. OSHA compliance is expected.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required reports.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures; keep shop clean and organized.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
