Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills or transfer stations. The role focuses on transferring, spreading, loading and compacting waste or soil while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Candidates should have prior heavy equipment experience and a strong commitment to safety. The position includes comprehensive benefits and a focus on maintaining equipment and reporting needs to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and in accordance with Company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and cameras are clean.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer and front-end loader following safety standards.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure equipment is ready for operation to minimize downtime.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks and document these services; refer complex issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and keep the shop clean, serviced and properly stored after each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
