Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking qualified Equipment Operators for the Devils Lake District, Pekin Section, Pekin, ND. This role performs highway and structure maintenance, operating heavy equipment to manage snow and ice control, install/repair signs and guardrails, and maintain roadways with attention to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

Valid North Dakota Class A license with no air brake restrictions.
Cargo tank endorsement (N) by first day of work.
Two years of relevant experience or one year and one season of winter operations.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment to perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance.
Install, repair and maintain highway signs and guardrails.
Keep roadways clear of hazards such as litter, debris and carcasses.
Perform building and grounds maintenance and routine maintenance of road and radio systems.
Maintain paperwork including time records, activity reports, and road reports.
Receive training and perform construction project duties under close supervision.
Be available to report within 30 minutes after hours on weekends and holidays during emergencies.
