Job summary

State of Oklahoma seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator I II to operate and maintain heavy highway equipment and support maintenance crews across District 3 / Purcell. The role requires operating a range of equipment, performing routine repairs, and assisting with traffic control and debris removal on roadways.

Level II positions require 1 year of relevant experience; Level I requires no prior experience. A valid Oklahoma driver's license is required, with CDL in some cases.

Qualifications

• Level II requires 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Level I requires no prior experience.
• Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required; some positions may require a CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment and machinery such as trucks, tractors, graders, dozers, loaders, cranes, backhoes, paint machines and more.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repairs roadway shoulders, bridges, signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provides traffic control using stop/slow signs or flags to direct highway traffic.
• Applies herbicide to highway right-of-ways to control weeds and vegetation.
• Removes debris including tires, animal carcasses and spilled items.
