The City of Clinton is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators to join the Streets & Sanitation Division. Under supervision, you will operate various heavy equipment, maintain city grounds, and ensure efficient waste collection. Ideal candidates will possess a valid SC Driver’s License and have strong customer service skills. This role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and may involve emergency callbacks.

Under frequent supervision, operates and assists in maintaining heavy equipment that collects and transports solid waste, maintains city-owned grounds, streets, and performs other duties as assigned. Heavy Equipment Operators (HEOs) operate various heavy equipment in the Streets & Sanitation Division, including but not limited to, street sweepers, vacuum trucks, grapple trucks, dump trucks, and sanitation trucks. Experience is preferred but not required. Emergency callback and standby call time may be required. A detailed job description is available.
Requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) proof of a four-year high school diploma or acceptable GED; (2) possess and maintain a valid SC Driver’s License with a minimum Class B Commercial Driver’s License endorsement (CDL holders preferred); (3) minimum age of 18 years; (4) good customer service and communication skills; (5) ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions year-round; (6) perform related work as assigned; (7) CDL holders are subject to DOT regulations including random drug and alcohol testing.
