ShearWorx, LLC has immediate openings for experienced general Heavy Equipment Operators in Brandenburg, KY. The Heavy Equipment Operator (General) job role will primarily be responsible for running a material handler but may be responsible for running a variety of heavy equipment including heavy forklifts, front end loaders, backhoes, and/or excavators with thumb or magnet. The duties will include loading and unloading material, staging of material for processing, and/or providing other services on a jobsite where these types of equipment are required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all pre‑shift and safety inspections of assigned equipment and complete daily inspection reports;
- Obey all safety, operating and work guidelines;
- Operate equipment in a safe and timely manner;
- Make operating adjustments as necessary to achieve quality and productivity targets;
- Take care of equipment including fueling, checking and filling all fluids, and other checks as needed;
- Report condition of equipment and maintenance needs to supervisor;
- Utilize personal cell phone to access work‑related applications for pre‑shift, mid‑shift and post‑shift usage;
- Keep the assigned piece of equipment clean and in good working condition.
Must Have
- 2 years’ experience operating equipment working in the construction or scrap industry or in an industrial setting.
- Understanding of the limits and safe operation of equipment.
- Working knowledge of the metal preparation process.
- Have a functional smartphone with proper storage to install and use 1–2 apps for work purposes.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Perform sitting, climbing, stooping, lifting, checking, visual inspection, hearing, listening, and operation in a safe manner according to work instructions.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-Have
- Bi‑Linguistic with fluency in both English and Spanish.
- 5+ years’ experience operating equipment working in the construction or scrap industry or in an industrial setting.
- Possess leadership skills.
- Mechanically inclined with ability to diagnose minor mechanical issues.
- Willingness to travel at times (Company reimbursed Fuel, Hotel, & Food).
- Ability & Knowledge to change mechanical repair components.
- Working understanding of hydraulic systems on equipment.
- Experience running a shear.
