Job summary

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Chickasaw Turnpike in Sulphur, OK. The role involves operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with roadway repairs and traffic control.

Level I offers $20.50/hour ($42,630/year); Level II offers $23.78/hour ($49,455/year) with potential promotion after CDL attainment. A CDL Class A is required for Level II; travel may be necessary during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of operation and servicing of heavy equipment used in highway maintenance.
• Ability to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Willingness to travel as required for emergency operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, graders, dozers, loaders, cranes and other gear.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repair roadway shoulders, signs, guardrails and fences as needed.
• Provide traffic control using stop/slow signs or flags.
• Apply herbicide and remove debris from right-of-way.
