Job summary

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Kickapoo Turnpike in Newalla. This full-time role operates power equipment used in highway maintenance and performs related repairs and traffic control tasks to support safe travel.

The workday runs roughly 7:30am–4:00pm with opportunities for advancement. Level I pays $20.50/hour ($42,630/year); Level II pays $23.78/hour ($49,455/year) with CDL eligibility.

Qualifications

• Level II requires 1 year of heavy equipment experience and a valid Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and power machinery such as trucks, graders, dozers, loaders, cranes, backhoes, and other equipment as needed.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repair roadway shoulders or bridge decks and replace signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provide traffic control using stop/slow signs or flags to direct highway traffic.
• Apply herbicide on rights-of-way to control vegetation and remove debris from the work area.
