Job summary

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Kickapoo Turnpike in Newalla, OK. The role operates a range of heavy machinery within road maintenance and repair tasks, and requires CDL Class A with at least one year of relevant experience.

Typical hours are 7:30am–4:00pm, with emergency on-call shifts and potential travel as needed. OTA offers competitive pay and a solid benefits package accompanying public service employment.

Qualifications

• One year of experience operating heavy equipment (road construction/maintenance).
• Must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Willing to work hours other than regular shifts during emergencies and to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment or heavy machinery (trucks, tractors, road graders, dozers, loaders, cranes, backhoes, etc.).
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Repair roadway shoulders or bridge decks as needed.
• Repair and/or replace signs, posts, guardrails and fences.
• Provide traffic control using stop/slow signals or flags.
• Apply herbicide to highway rights-of-way.
• Remove debris and obstacles from work sites.
