Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is hiring for a heavy equipment operator responsible for bale and load operations, inspections, and on-site equipment handling at our Georgia site. Role requires operating multiple machines, maintaining safety, and supporting a clean, compliant work environment.

The position demands physical stamina, English literacy, and a readiness to operate in outdoor conditions with appropriate PPE. Training and safety meetings are a core part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station / Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
• Operate listed heavy equipment (forklift, bobcat, front-loader, baler, backhoe, track hoe, bull dozer, compactor) with proper safety gear.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste material into trailers.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Grease/lubricate equipment and check fluids daily.
• Steer, guide and drive listed equipment at the site with safety.
• Substitute for other operators as needed.
• Attend safety and branch meetings and keep facilities clean.
• Follow all laws, policies and directives; communicate via two-way radio.
