Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL) seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator at Fort Carson to operate forklifts, loaders, cranes and other MHE in support of Army equipment turn-in operations. You will move equipment between staging, inspection and storage areas with a focus on safety and accuracy.

You will perform PMCS, maintain logs, and ensure compliance with Army safety, OSHA and site procedures. You will coordinate with Supply Technicians and drivers, and travel within the United States as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
• 2–4 years of experience operating heavy equipment
• Army safety and supply regulations: AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-2-1
• Army maintenance standards: AR 750-1, DA PAM 750-8
• Forklift/MHE certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts (4K–10K, RTCH, ATLAS, Kalmar), loaders, cranes, and rough-terrain vehicles
• Support equipment turn-in operations by moving vehicles, containers, and large materiel between staging, inspection, and storage areas
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with Army equipment in compliance with Army and DOT securement standards
• Assist with mass turn-in events, ensuring timely processing of large volumes of equipment
• Perform PMCS on all assigned equipment before, during, and after use
• Report deficiencies and coordinate repairs per Army TMs and site procedures
• Maintain operator logs, equipment inspection records, and usage reports
• Adhere to Army, OSHA, and company safety regulations
• Ensure proper lifting and load securement
• Safely handle hazardous materiel per Army and environmental standards
• Support documentation movement checks (DA 1348-1A, DD 200)
• Update movement logs for audit readiness per ISO 9001:2015
• Provide status updates to supervisors and Transportation Coordinator
• Work with Supply Technicians and Truck Drivers to ensure smooth movement of equipment
• Support staging operations for inspection and outbound shipments
• Assist in developing site SOPs for heavy equipment operations
