Job summary

Akima Global Logistics seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to manage and move Army equipment and materiel at a contractor-managed site. You will operate forklifts, loaders, cranes, and other heavy machines, ensuring safe PMCS, documentation, and adherence to Army safety standards.

You will coordinate with Supply Technicians and Truck Drivers, support staging and inspection, and contribute to turn-in processing while maintaining logs and compliance with safety and quality regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; substitute with relevant work experience.
• 2–4 years of heavy equipment operating experience (military or contractor environment preferred).
• Army OF 346 license or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency with safety regulations (OSHA/Army) and PMCS procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts (4K–10K, RTCH, ATLAS, Kalmar), loaders, cranes, and rough-terrain vehicles.
• Support equipment turn-in operations by moving vehicles, containers, and large materiel between staging, inspection, and storage areas.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with Army equipment following Army and DOT standards.
• Assist with mass turn-in events, ensuring timely processing of large volumes of equipment.
• Perform PMCS on all assigned equipment before, during, and after use.
• Report deficiencies and coordinate repairs per Army TMs and site procedures.
• Maintain operator logs, inspection records, and usage reports.
• Adhere to Army, OSHA, and company safety regulations during operations.
• Ensure proper lifting, load balancing, and securement to prevent damage or injury.
• Safely handle hazardous and sensitive materiel per Army and environmental standards.
• Support supply and warehouse personnel in documenting movements (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200).
• Update movement logs for audit readiness per ISO 9001:2015.
