Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation is hiring a Highway Maintenance Specialist in Durango, CO. You will work in a team to maintain and repair roadways, respond to emergencies, and operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions.

The role involves on-call shifts, driving CDOT vehicles, and heavy manual labor with safety as a priority. A valid CDL and two years of related experience are required, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Install pavement markings/striping and repair guardrail, signs, and lighting.
• Plow snow and operate heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks and loaders.
• Mow grass, remove debris from roadways, and clear culverts and ditches.
• Set out signs/cones for traffic control and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain equipment and follow safety protocols.
