Job summary

Scotty’s Contracting and Stone in Bowling Green, KY is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our fleet of excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, and paving machines operating safely and efficiently on challenging construction projects across our service area.

You will diagnose, repair, and prevent failures, perform routine maintenance, replace worn components, and collaborate with a dedicated team to meet tight deadlines while upholding our safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in heavy equipment preferred.
• 3+ years experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance, preferably in construction or paving.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy equipment (excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, graders, paving machinery).
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Replace worn or damaged parts (engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic systems).
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations on site.
• Collaborate with mechanics, operators, and supervisors to address issues and improve efficiency.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies in the field.
