Job summary

AEP is seeking a Fleet Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a range of Company vehicles and heavy equipment in Abilene, TX. You will diagnose and fix hydraulic, diesel, steering, braking, and transmission systems while maintaining records and supporting training activities.

Required is a high school diploma or GED with at least 2 years of automotive diagnostics experience and diesel engine exposure; a Class A CDL and Fluid Power/ASE certifications are strongly preferred and may be

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
Graduation from an automotive trade school with diesel engine experience is highly desirable.
Must obtain Fluid Power Society Certification and two ASE certifications within 24 months of entry or vacate the current job classification.

Responsibilities

Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and load test boom assemblies.
Service and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, motors, valves and cylinders.
Service and repair A/C/heating systems incl. diagnosing issues and replacing components.
Troubleshoot and repair winch assemblies.
Service and repair steering and air brake systems on Company vehicles.
Inspect and repair differentials, transmissions, and power dividers.
Maintain records and submit reports as required.
Attend training and assist in training others.
