Job summary

aep in Texas is seeking a Fleet Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on sedans, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment. You will work on hydraulic, diesel, braking, steering, HVAC, and fuel systems, diagnosing issues and ensuring proper operation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, automotive trade school diesel experience, and a valid driver's license with CDL target within 12 months. Expect mobility within the service area and ongoing training in safety and equipment

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
• Graduation from an automotive trade school with diesel engine experience is highly desirable.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license; must obtain Class A CDL within 12 months.
• Must obtain Fluid Power Society Certification and two ASE certifications within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies and related components; inspect and load test.
• Service and repair hydraulic systems and replace pumps, motors, valves, and cylinders.
• Service and repair HVAC systems including A/C components and refrigerant lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair winch assemblies and steering systems.
• Service and repair air brake and hydraulic braking systems.
• Inspect differentials, transmissions, and drive components.
• Service fuel and exhaust systems, including diesel fuel pumps and turbo systems.
• Assist diagnosing more complex problems and operate company vehicles safely.
• Maintain tools and work area; document records and reports; participate in training.
• Direct and assist other technicians as needed; perform less skilled work when assigned.
