Job summary

Sunstall Inc. in Tennessee seeks an experienced Field Mechanic to support our asphalt paving division. You will diagnose and repair CAT equipment, pavers, and heavy trucks on-site to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and able to work weekends when needed, with strong diagnostics across diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and computerized tools.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean record.
• 3–5+ years as a heavy equipment/field mechanic.
• Strong CAT diagnostics and repair experience.
• Experience on asphalt paving equipment in field environments.
• Maintenance and repair of heavy trucks is required.
• Solid understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and computerized diagnostics.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics and service documents.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to work weekends.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment including pavers and machines.
• Perform on-site repairs for trucks and commercial vehicles as needed.
• Respond quickly to field service calls to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical issues in the field.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on site.
• Weld and fabricate as needed to complete field repairs.
• Coordinate with shop personnel and supervisors regarding major repairs or parts needs.
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and daily activity reports.
• Ensure equipment meets safety standards and company policies.
• Operate a service truck and maintain tools and inventory.
