Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Mebane, NC is seeking a Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Technician to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers. You will work with brakes, HVAC, drivelines, electrical systems, and perform PM inspections and fleet checks.

The role requires a high school diploma (trade certs are a plus), a valid license, and the ability to lift 30–250 lbs. Flexible hours and overtime may be required; competitive hourly pay is offered based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification a plus.
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs.).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to work in varying conditions and flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers.
• Repair brakes, HVAC systems, drivetrains and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and fleet inspections.
• Operate diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Perform tire-related services and TPMS maintenance.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed.
• Adhere to safety guidelines, policies and DOT regulations.
• Respond to roadside service calls using company service truck.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
