Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Robinson, TX is seeking a Heavy Duty Truck and Trailer Technician to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semis and trailers, including brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, and electrical systems. The role includes preventive maintenance, fleet inspections, and roadside service coverage.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or trade school certification, diesel mechanic experience, strong mechanical knowledge, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
• Prior experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or heavy truck mechanic preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
• Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on semi-trucks and trailers, including: brakes, HVAC, drivetrains, electrical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and fleet inspections.
• Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
• Respond to roadside service calls using a company service truck when required.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed and parts used.
• Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
