Job summary

FleetPride is seeking a Service Writer to communicate estimates and work details to customers, schedule repairs, and manage clerical tasks. The role requires a firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers, strong written and verbal communication, and proficient PC skills.

You will prepare reports, invoices, and correspondence, while supporting the Service Manager and technicians to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.
• Average PC skills; familiarity with G-Suite, Excel and Word preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers, employees and others to answer questions, explain repairs, schedule repairs and address complaints.
• Support Service Manager and Technicians with daily needs.
• Prepare invoices, open repair orders, reports and other documents using Google Sheets and Excel.
• Determine status of customer accounts and any payment needs prior to scheduling work.
• Answer phones, direct calls and take messages.
• Process payments by credit card, cash or charge accounts.
• Maintain filing, inventory and database systems, manually or on a computer.
• Estimate, schedule and invoice repairs in a knowledgeable manner.
• Coordinate road call requirements and ensure timely work; arrange purchases and related tasks.
• Perform general office duties and basic bookkeeping.
• Open, sort and distribute incoming correspondence including faxes and email.
• Manage cash drawer/petty cash.
• Maintain a clean and organized office area.
