Job summary

FleetPride is the largest after-market distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the U.S. The Service Writer communicates estimates, scheduling and work details to customers with a firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities include preparing reports and documents, handling inquiries, processing payments, and supporting daily office operations. Strong communication and basic bookkeeping skills are valued in this role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.
  • Average PC skills; G-Suite, Excel, Word preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with customers, employees and others to answer questions and schedule repairs.
  • Support Service Manager and Technicians with daily needs.
  • Prepare invoices, repair orders, reports, memos and other documents using Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Determine status of customer accounts and payment needs prior to scheduling work.
  • Answer phones, take messages and route inquiries.
  • Process payments by credit card, cash or charge accounts.
  • Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing and database systems.
  • Estimate, schedule and invoice repairs in a knowledgeable manner.
  • Coordinate road call requirements and follow up to ensure timely work.
  • Perform general office duties: ordering supplies, maintaining records and basic bookkeeping.
  • Open, sort and distribute mail and email.
  • Maintain cash drawer/petty cash and a clean office area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
