Job summary

Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead to maintain and repair heavy and light-duty equipment used in road and airport maintenance across Alaska. You will diagnose and service transmissions, engines, hydraulics, fuel systems, and brakes, including electrical and emission controls.

Travel to remote sites by air for inspections and repairs is possible; CDL is required within 120 days.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required within 120 days of hire.
• Experience with heavy-duty and light-duty equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain heavy-duty and light-duty equipment for road, airport, and other DOT assets.
• Diagnose, repair, and modify transmissions, drive trains, engines, emissions, and hydraulic systems.
• Perform routine and specialized maintenance using standard shop tools; ensure safety and compliance.
