Job summary

State of Alaska’s Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) State Equipment Fleet seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive, Advanced Journey/Lead in Anchorage to maintain and repair heavy and light duty equipment used on roads and runways. The role involves diagnosing complex issues and performing advanced repairs in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and new information.
• Vehicle maintenance knowledge of engines, parts, and systems, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
• Self-management with initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all heavy- and light-duty equipment and vehicles for road and runway projects in the area.
• Diagnose, repair and modify equipment; resolve unusual or complex issues using various techniques.
• Diagnose and service transmissions, drive trains, suspension, engines, emissions, hydraulics and braking systems for light and heavy equipment.
