Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team in delivering heavy civil construction projects in Abilene, TX. You will assist planning, scheduling, field coordination, and reporting to help ensure on-time, safe project delivery.

The ideal candidate holds a civil engineering or construction management degree with 1–3 years of experience, strong communication, and the ability to read blueprints and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in heavy civil construction projects preferred.
• Understanding of construction processes, methods, and materials.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, AutoCAD is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, executing, and closing out heavy civil construction projects.
• Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Develop and maintain project schedules; track progress and identify delays.
• Prepare and process submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with cost control and budgeting.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Participate in project meetings and distribute information to stakeholders.
• Perform site visits to monitor progress, ensure quality, and address field issues.
• Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and other project documentation.
• Assist in ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Support the project closeout with punch list and final documentation.
