Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Project Engineer to support project management and field teams on heavy civil projects. You will help manage specifications, budget, and schedule with a mix of technical and administrative duties.

Responsibilities include reviewing plans, preparing documentation, tracking progress, conducting site visits, coordinating with subs and suppliers, and assisting with cost tracking and estimates. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of heavy civil construction experience.
• Strong understanding of construction principles and project management methodologies.
• Proficiency in construction software (Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in planning, organizing, and directing project activities.
• Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance during construction.
• Prepare and manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and daily reports.
• Track project progress, identify potential issues, and assist in developing solutions to maintain project schedule and budget.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor work quality, safety, and adherence to project plans.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Assist in cost tracking, forecasting, and budget analysis for assigned projects.
• Support the implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures on job sites.
• Participate in project meetings, take meeting minutes, and distribute information to relevant stakeholders.
• Perform quantity take-offs and assist with estimating activities as needed.
