Job summary

Connectly Recruiting seeks an experienced Project Manager for NCDOT work in Charlotte and central North Carolina. You will run highways, bridges and utilities from preconstruction through closeout, with responsibility for budget, schedule, and safety.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil work, proven NCDOT project experience, and a track record of delivering projects end-to-end with direct leadership oversight.

Qualifications

• PM of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge, or utility work.
• Documented NCDOT project experience as PM is required.
• Experience running projects from start to finish; not an entry step.
• Contractor-side background; consulting/inspection is not suitable.
• Strong cost control, scheduling, change orders, and field management.

Responsibilities

• Lead NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction to closeout.
• Own budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margins for each job.
• Submit cost/income projections and act on variances early.
• Direct superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to meet targets.
• Serve as main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors, vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders; manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and docs.
• Run weekly meetings on schedule/cost; report to leadership.
• Collaborate with estimating on bids and handoffs for start-up.
• Maintain strong safety culture on every site.
