Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Estimator for heavy civil projects.

The role focuses on producing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates by interpreting drawings and specifications, and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to reach a precise bid. The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of heavy civil estimating experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with owners, engineers, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in heavy civil work.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with owners, engineers, and contractors.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, Primavera/P6, and accounting software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; bid should reach 95% complete before review.
• Prepare rough project schedule to determine time frame.
• Review estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Enter detailed data into HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob and related tools.
