Job summary

Talent Edge Recruiting seeks an HVAC Estimator to review plans, perform takeoffs, select equipment, and build quotes and bids. You will support Outside Sales Engineers and coordinate with vendors and internal teams on bid deadlines.

Most projects are hotels and schools; base salary ranges from $65,000 to $90,000 plus commission. On-site role with limited remote flexibility after 90 days, and a benefits package including BCBS medical, dental and vision, 401(k) with 4% match, and 8 paid holidays.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of true HVAC estimating experience.
• Commercial HVAC or mechanical construction background required.
• Comfortable performing takeoffs and reviewing plans and specifications.
• Strong math, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and Microsoft Office.
• Open to candidates titled HVAC Estimator, Mechanical Estimator, or Construction Estimator with substantial HVAC experience.
• No visa sponsorship.

• Spot value-engineering opportunities and provide pricing/product guidance.
• Manage multiple concurrent bid deadlines without dropping a ball.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on order entry, documentation, and project administration.
• Work primarily in Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff for plan review and takeoffs, Microsoft Office day to day, and manufacturer pricing/equipment-selection tools.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (remote option available for the right candidate)

Pay Rate: $65,000–$90,000+ base salary + plus commission eligibility on closed projects

Overview

• Review commercial construction plans and specifications for HVAC scope
• Perform and/or review takeoffs (using an outside takeoff service on some jobs, and their own on others)
• Select HVAC equipment and specialty air-movement products using manufacturer selection tools
• Build quotes, estimates, bids, and proposal packages — supporting Outside Sales Engineers directly, eventually as a dedicated partner to two or three of them
• Spot value-engineering opportunities and provide pricing/product guidance
• Manage multiple concurrent bid deadlines without dropping a ball
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on order entry, documentation, and project administration
• Work primarily in Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff for plan review and takeoffs, Microsoft Office day to day, and manufacturer pricing/equipment-selection tools, with the team transitioning toward a dedicated rep order management platform.
• Most of the current project mix is hotels and schools — the highest-volume estimators on this team complete upwards of 150+ bids a month, on projects that typically run $50,000–$120,000+.
• $70,000 for candidates with 2–3 years of true HVAC estimating experience
• $85,000–$90,000 for candidates with 3–5 years of experience
• $90,000+ for candidates with 5+ years — strong outliers with the right background may be considered above range
• Commission eligibility on closed projects starting at 90 days (percentage-based structure)
• Remote schedule available for the right candidate -- this is an office-based role, no travel required

Requirements

• 3–5 years of true HVAC estimating experience for the experienced-level opening (candidates with 1+ years may be considered for a junior/developing track)
• Commercial HVAC or mechanical construction background required
• Comfortable performing takeoffs and reviewing plans and specifications
• Working knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems
• Strong math, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
• Able to independently manage multiple concurrent bid deadlines
• High school diploma or GED required; additional HVAC, construction, or technical training preferred; college degree not required
• Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and Microsoft Office
• Nice to have: manufacturer's representative experience, specialty/air-movement product background, hotel and school project experience, and familiarity with order processing or project-administration workflows
• Open to candidates titled HVAC Estimator, Mechanical Estimator, or Construction Estimator with substantial HVAC experience
