Qualifications

• Must hold Alabama Special Education Certification in the area of Hearing Impaired.
• Experience with IEP development and implementation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with parents and school staff.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide free and appropriate public education for hearing-impaired students.
• Deliver remedial and consultative services; teach sign language; recommend assistive technology; maintain devices.
• Administer standardized tests for IEP and eligibility purposes.
• Participate in Referral, Eligibility, and IEP committees to ensure legally sound conclusions.
• Apply current eligibility criteria under IDEA and Section 504.
• Complete required paperwork within deadlines.
• Coordinate services with other agencies.
• Write and implement IEPs; keep parents informed; work with families and school personnel.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by principal or special education director.
