Job summary

Qualifications

• An Associate’s degree (or higher) OR two (2) years of full-time study at an institution of higher education OR passing test scores in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics on the WorkKeys assessment.

Responsibilities

• This role provides support services to teachers and instructional staff in the Special Education Services department, in classrooms and resource centers.
• Helps develop and plan effective lessons and school activities under supervision.
• Works with students individually or in groups to supplement instruction and reinforce lesson plans.
• Assists with supervising students inside and outside the classroom to maintain order and safety.
• Assists in planning class field trips and educational activities to support curriculum.
• Assists students with mobility needs and personal care tasks as required.
• Notifies appropriate personnel of concerns and follows district policies on student welfare and safety.
• Monitors progress and documents student data as directed by the teacher; performs related clerical duties.
