Job summary

Independent Living Systems (ILS) seeks a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a team delivering secure, compliant software that supports member care and operations. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product, QA, and clinical experts, and drive best practices across development lifecycle.

The role focuses on regulatory alignment (HIPAA), DevOps adoption, and scalable architectures in healthcare technology, with emphasis on continuous improvement and outcomes-based engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 3+ years managing software engineering teams in a regulated industry, preferably healthcare.
• Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and experience implementing secure software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers to deliver scalable and maintainable software solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, clinical stakeholders, and other departments to define project requirements and timelines.
• Oversee the software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and maintain high standards for data security and member privacy.
• Implement and promote best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and risk mitigation to meet delivery deadlines.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment that encourages professional development and knowledge sharing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
