Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Hospital Telephone Operator to support our patient communications on a full-time basis. The role involves answering phones, routing calls, dispatching urgent Code alerts, and processing paperwork for on-call schedules with accuracy and courtesy.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, proficiency with MS Office (Excel), strong keyboarding, solid communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work varied shifts,

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge and experience with MS Office products (Excel).
• Must have accurate keyboarding skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills including vocabulary, spelling, grammar.
• Good customer service skills.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Previous operator/switchboard and customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones and routes incoming calls to appropriate offices or personnel; Dispatch emergency Code calls to clinical personnel.
• Processes paperwork in an efficient manner according to set procedures, including proper filing and distribution of on-call schedules and wireless devices.
