Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Telephone Operator to support the hospital’s front desk and clinical communications. You will answer, screen, and route calls, dispatch emergency codes, and coordinate paging for on-call staff during day shifts.

The role requires strong MS Office skills, accurate keyboarding, and excellent customer service. Candidates must be able to work weekends/holidays and maintain dependable attendance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Terminology certification or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Accurate keyboarding and strong verbal/written communication.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones and routes calls to offices or personnel.
• Dispatches emergency Code calls to clinical staff as needed.
• Processes paperwork following procedures with accuracy.
• Maintains on-call schedules and wireless devices for staff.

Good verbal and written communication skills to include proper vocabulary, spelling, grammar and sentence structure.4. Good customer service skills.5. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.Preferred:1.
