Job summary

St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves patrolling hospital properties, documenting incidents, and coordinating with local law enforcement as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate/bachelor preferred), 1–2 years in security or healthcare, and a valid driver's license. Training in Basic Life Support and MOAB is required to maintain readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in security, healthcare or related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.
• Must deal with the public in stressful and sensitive situations.
• Certification/licensure: Valid Driver's License.
• Must obtain and maintain required trainings including Basic Life Support and MOAB.

Responsibilities

• Patrols on foot and by vehicle to protect hospital property and ensure safety.
• Investigates and documents incidents and accidents; completes shift activity reports.
• Monitors visitors and restricts access as needed.
• Conducts fire drills and maintains related documentation.
• Liaises with law enforcement, fire departments, and other agencies.
• Inspects and maintains security systems as directed.
• Monitors parking areas and enforces parking rules.
• Records and secures patient valuables and belongings.
• Ensures compliance with hospital ID program and door lock procedures.
• Lead Officer role in absence of Security Shift Supervisor.
