Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property. The role includes proactive patrols, incident response, access control, and collaboration with clinical staff and emergency responders.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in security in healthcare or behavioral health settings, with strong communication and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in security/public safety, healthcare, or behavioral health with direct patient/public interaction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
Ability to follow protocols, policies, and instructions accurately.
Customer service mindset with respectful interaction across diverse populations.

Responsibilities

Maintain safety and security across hospital buildings, grounds, and parking areas.
Conduct routine and random patrols to deter unsafe activity.
Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies.
De-escalate disruptive situations among patients, visitors, or staff.
Control access to restricted areas and verify IDs as required.
Monitor security systems including cameras and alarms.
Document incidents and actions in written reports.
Collaborate with leadership, clinical staff, and local law enforcement as needed.
Support emergency response activities and regulatory compliance.
