Job summary

St. Elizabeth's Medical Center is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, staff, and visitors. The role requires patrolling facilities, investigating incidents, monitoring access, and coordinating with law enforcement as needed.

You will conduct fire drills, manage security communications, and maintain valuables records. The position emphasizes quick decision-making under pressure, respectful public interaction, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor preferred.
• 1–2 years security, healthcare experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to make quick, accurate decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities

• patrols on foot and by vehicle to maintain a visible security presence.
• Investigates and documents incidents and accidents with shift activity reports.
• Monitors visitor conduct and addresses unauthorized persons.
• Conducts fire drills and documents events.
• Liaises with law enforcement, fire department, and outside agencies as required.
• Inspects and maintains security systems per director’s direction.
• Monitors parking areas and issues notices per parking rules.
• Assists with transport of deceased and documents related details.
• Responds to assistance requests from hospital staff, including restraining patients as needed.
• Notifies Director of Security of maintenance requisitions.
• Records and secures patient valuables and lost-and-found items.
• Ensures compliance with hospital ID program.
