Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab seeks a Public Safety Officer to maintain a secure environment at the front line of service. You will patrol, protect patients, employees and visitors, and respond to alarms and emergencies with professionalism.

Requires a high school diploma, Illinois driver’s license, and 2 years of security experience preferred. Training, reporting duties, and collaboration with hospital staff are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school diploma.
• Minimum of 20 Hours Training or Peace Officer certification in Illinois.
• Security experience preferred (2+ years).
• Valid Illinois driver’s license as required.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas for safety hazards and unauthorized persons.
• Maintains secure facilities and controls access to rooms and offices.
• Responds to burglar, robbery, fire alarms, disturbances and other public service calls.
• Prepares written reports on incidents and investigations.
• Enforces hospital safety and security rules and parking policies.
• Assists with transporting employees to offsite locations and escorts to parking.
• Directs and informs patients, visitors and staff as needed.
• Traffic control for the main driveway and parking garage.
