Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Public Safety Officer to maintain a secure environment at the front line of service for patients, staff and visitors. You will patrol, monitor access, respond to alarms and assist with transportation of items and people as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, Illinois DPR training or Peace Officer certification, and security experience. You must demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills and uphold SRALab values.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school diploma.
• Minimum of 20 Hours Training outlined by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, or certification as a Peace Officer in the State of Illinois.
• Security experience – 2 years preferred.
• Knowledge of security procedures and public safety rules and codes.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas, identifying safety hazards and unauthorized access.
• Maintains secure facilities and controlled entrances.
• Responds to alarms, disturbances and public safety calls.
• Prepares written reports on activities and investigations.
• Enforces hospital safety and security rules and regulations.
