Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Officer I for overnight coverage from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Friday through Tuesday with Wednesdays and Thursdays off. The role protects patients, visitors, and staff, conducts patrols, investigates incidents, and coordinates with local authorities as needed.

Requirements include a high-school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and security/defensive training certifications.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire; maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification within 9 months of hire.
• Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with a variety of individuals.
• Writing reports and paperwork meeting departmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and quell hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain safety.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Monitors access control system, alarms, and security video system.
• Controls traffic to ensure access for emergency vehicles and patients/visitors.
• Performs patrols of hospital buildings and grounds on foot and mobile.
• Responds to emergencies and follows department guidelines.
• Gives escorts to staff to their vehicles and manages parking permits.
