Job summary

WM is seeking a Manager, Project - WMSS to provide strategic guidance for compliant, safe, and efficient handling and processing of all waste streams contracted by facilities. This role requires travel 3-4 days per week regionally, with occasional overnights.

You will lead service delivery, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and drive profitability by optimizing operations and coordinating with hospital staff and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in the healthcare industry with healthcare-related knowledge.
  • Public speaking duties for client-facing engagements.
  • Strong familiarity with medical waste issues and healthcare industry.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • On-site presence at WMHS customer locations required.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare discipline preferred (or related experience).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance and cost goals using cost-tracking tools and invoice reviews.
  • Provide strategic consultative resources to hospital staff for managing waste streams safely and compliantly.
  • Maintain expertise on regulations (EPA, DOT, DEA, and state/local) governing waste streams.
  • Conduct customer surveys to identify compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities.
  • Project manage new compliance-based service implementations with schedules and training.
  • Schedule and complete customer-facing activities to improve service satisfaction and profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle consistently meet service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and are provided in a productive and profitable manner.

Job Summary

The Manager, Project - WMSS is responsible for providing strategic guidance towards the compliant, safe and efficient handling and processing of all Waste Streams contracted by the facility(s). Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle consistently meet service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and are provided in a productive and profitable manner. This position will require travel 3-4 days per week regionally, with the occasional over-night.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Monitors the performance of operational efficiencies and assist in ensuring that their performance and cost goals are being achieved by utilizing cost tracking tools and reviewing invoices for accuracy. Identifies and executes ways to reduce costs while still fulfilling contractual obligations
  • Provides strategic consultative resources to hospital staff to assist them in managing all contracted waste streams in a safe and compliant manner. Serve as the primary liaison in managing all contracted waste streams
  • Provides expert knowledge as needed on each of the regulations associated with the waste streams being managed (i.e., EPA, DOT, DEA, and any other state or local regulations)
  • Conduct Survey for customers identifying compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities utilizing the Virtual Compliance Partner application
  • Project manage implementation of new compliance-based services including the tracking, coordinating, and communication of schedules and expectations to internal and external customers. Develop and deliver customized training for the implementation and maintenance of the contract
  • Regularly schedule and complete customer-facing activity with focus on service satisfaction, building relationships, and identifying ways to improve operational efficiencies and profitability
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and the healthcare industry, and consultative skills to effectively deal with customers. Candidate is confident with public speaking duties
  • Functional experience with Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams
  • This position requires on-site presence at WMHS customer locations and compliance with all mandatory immunization requirements imposed by such customers
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in healthcare discipline preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating detailed knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA-RCRA and/or U.S. DOT, and/or The Joint Commission Standards

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S.is $67,500 - $75,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
