Job summary

WM is seeking a Manager, Project - WMSS to provide strategic guidance for compliant, safe, and efficient handling of all contracted waste streams across facilities. Travel is 75% within Florida as the role supports WM customers and Stericycle standards, ensuring service expectations and safety compliance are met.

Responsibilities include supervising operational performance, cost control, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver profitable outcomes while maintaining safety and regulatory

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in related work experience, with excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and consultative skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements.
  • Some WM customers require vaccinations; proof may be required subject to accommodations.
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in healthcare discipline preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA-RCRA and/or U.S. DOT standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors operational efficiencies and cost goals using cost tracking tools; reviews invoices for accuracy and identifies cost-reducing opportunities.
  • Provides strategic consultative resources to hospital staff to manage all contracted waste streams safely and compliantly; serves as primary liaison.
  • Provides expert knowledge on regulations for waste streams (EPA, DOT, DEA, etc.).
  • Conducts customer surveys to identify compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities using the Virtual Compliance Partner.
  • Project-manages implementation of new compliance-based services, coordinating schedules and delivering training.
  • Regularly schedules customer-facing activity focused on service satisfaction, building relationships, and improving profitability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle consistently meet service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and are provided in a productive and profitable manner.

Travel is 75% within the State of Florida.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Monitors the performance of operational efficiencies and assist in ensuring that their performance and cost goals are being achieved by utilizing cost tracking tools and reviewing invoices for accuracy. Identifies and executes ways to reduce costs while still fulfilling contractual obligations
  • Provides strategic consultative resources to hospital staff to assist them in managing all contracted waste streams in a safe and compliant manner. Serve as the primary liaison in managing all contracted waste streams
  • Provides expert knowledge as needed on each of the regulations associated with the waste streams being managed (i.e., EPA, DOT, DEA, and any other state or local regulations)
  • Conduct Survey for customers identifying compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities utilizing the Virtual Compliance Partner application
  • Project manage implementation of new compliance-based services including the tracking, coordinating, and communication of schedules and expectations to internal and external customers. Develop and deliver customized training for the implementation and maintenance of the contract
  • Regularly schedule and complete customer-facing activity with focus on service satisfaction, building relationships, and identifying ways to improve operational efficiencies and profitability
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and the healthcare industry, and consultative skills to effectively deal with customers. Candidate is confident with public speaking duties
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.
  • Some WM customers require vaccinations. For these positions, proof of vaccination will be required subject only to any obligation to accommodate for religious or disability reasons
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in healthcare discipline preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating detailed knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA-RCRA and/or U.S. DOT, and/or The Joint Commission Standards
