Job summary

WM (Waste Management) is seeking a Manager, Project - WMSS to guide compliant and efficient handling of facility waste streams across regions. The role requires regional travel 3–4 days per week, with occasional over-nights, and on-site presence at WMHS locations.

You will provide strategic, consultative support to hospital staff, ensure regulatory and safety compliance, and drive cost-effective service delivery. Strong Microsoft Office skills and public speaking are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry or equivalent, with strong medical waste knowledge.
  • Public speaking duties as part of the role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
  • On-site presence at WMHS customer locations and compliance with immunization requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor operational efficiency and cost goals using tracking tools and invoice reviews.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities while meeting contractual obligations.
  • Provide strategic consultative resources to hospital staff for safe, compliant waste management.
  • Serve as primary liaison for all contracted waste streams and regulatory considerations (EPA, DOT, DEA).
  • Coordinate surveys to identify compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities.
  • Project-manage implementations of new services, including timelines and training.

Job Summary

The Manager, Project - WMSS is responsible for providing strategic guidance towards the compliant, safe and efficient handling and processing of all Waste Streams contracted by the facility(s). Ensures the services provided to the facility(s) by Stericycle consistently meet service expectations, regulatory and safety compliance measures, and are provided in a productive and profitable manner. This position will require travel 3-4 days per week regionally, with the occasional over-night.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitors the performance of operational efficiencies and assist in ensuring that their performance and cost goals are being achieved by utilizing cost tracking tools and reviewing invoices for accuracy.
  • Identifies and executes ways to reduce costs while still fulfilling contractual obligations.
  • Provides strategic consultative resources to hospital staff to assist them in managing all contracted waste streams in a safe and compliant manner. Serve as the primary liaison in managing all contracted waste streams.
  • Provides expert knowledge as needed on each of the regulations associated with the waste streams being managed (i.e., EPA, DOT, DEA, and any other state or local regulations).
  • Conduct Survey for customers identifying compliance gaps and waste segregation opportunities utilizing the Virtual Compliance Partner application.
  • Project manage implementation of new compliance-based services including the tracking, coordinating, and communication of schedules and expectations to internal and external customers. Develop and deliver customized training for the implementation and maintenance of the contract.
  • Regularly schedule and complete customer-facing activity with focus on service satisfaction, building relationships, and identifying ways to improve operational efficiencies and profitability.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating excellent working knowledge of medical waste issues and the healthcare industry, and consultative skills to effectively deal with customers. Candidate is confident with public speaking duties.
  • Functional experience with Microsoft products including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams.
  • This position requires on-site presence at WMHS customer locations and compliance with all mandatory immunization requirements imposed by such customers.
  • Valid Driver's License.
B. Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree with experience in healthcare discipline preferred, or the equivalent in related work experience, demonstrating detailed knowledge of OSHA and/or EPA-RCRA and/or U.S. DOT, and/or The Joint Commission Standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Combination: This job operates in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
Pay

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S.is $67,500 - $75,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
