Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA seeks a Network Security Engineer I to implement and maintain security solutions protecting patient data and clinical operations.

The role reports to the Director of Enterprise Identity Services and Cybersecurity and requires hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, MFA, and cloud security in Azure/AWS. A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with technical security solutions such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, endpoint protection, email security, MFA (Required).
• Experience enforcing security policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard data and systems (Required).
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems (Required).
• Azure and/or AWS cloud security experience (Preferred).
• Healthcare, hospital, or regulated-industry environment experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and triage vulnerability scan results and contribute remediation plans.
• Assist senior engineers in risk assessments and document findings.
• Administer host-based security solutions and enforce security policies.
• Respond to security alerts and perform first-line triage.
• Collaborate to gather and document security requirements for new systems.
• Maintain firewall and network security infrastructure to ensure uptime.
• Support design, testing, and deployment of security infrastructure changes.
• Keep incident reports and runbooks up to date.
