Riverside Support Services in Newport News, VA seeks a Network Security Engineer I to help implement and maintain security controls protecting the health system’s infrastructure and patient data.

You will monitor vulnerability results, assist with risk assessments, and manage host-based security tools while collaborating with engineers and management to meet regulatory standards. This is a 24/7 environment requiring after-hours support.

Competenze

• 3–4 years hands-on experience with security solutions (firewalls, IPS/IDS, SIEM, endpoint protection, MFA).
• 3–4 years experience enforcing security policies and controls to safeguard data and systems.
• 2 years working knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Windows Server, and Linux.
• 1 year experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud security.
• Healthcare/regulatory environment experience is preferred.

Working as part of a cross-functional team, this position supports the day-to-day operation of security tooling, contributes to strategic projects, and helps ensure our security posture meets both organizational and healthcare regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a solid working knowledge of network and infrastructure security who is eager to grow, collaborate, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
