Job summary

Grandview Medical Center - Birmingham, AL is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II to maintain a safe, hygienic hospital environment. You will perform floor care, waste removal, linen handling, spill cleanup, and general cleaning in line with infection control standards.

Responsibilities include sanitizing patient rooms and common areas, reporting maintenance needs, and keeping accurate logs. 1-3 years in environmental services or custodial work is required, with CHEST/CHESP certification

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques.
• Ability to safely handle biohazardous and infectious waste in compliance with infection control standards.
• Familiarity with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage.

Responsibilities

• Performs floor care tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing various flooring surfaces.
• Collects and disposes of waste following hospital policies and regulatory guidelines, including biohazardous materials.
• Handles soiled linens, replacing with clean bags and ensuring proper containment.
• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
• Responds to spills and contamination cleanups with proper disinfection and safety.
• Moves furniture, floor mats, and cleaning equipment as needed for maintenance or relocations.
• Monitors cleaning supply usage and ensures safe storage and usage.
• Communicates maintenance needs to supervisor for timely resolution.
• Maintains cleaning logs and reports completed tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
