Job summary

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance.
• Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning (CHEST or CHESP) preferred.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques.

Responsibilities

• Performs floor care tasks (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, shampooing) to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Collects and disposes of waste, including biohazardous and infectious materials, per hospital policies.
• Handles soiled linens and replaces with clean bags; ensures proper containment and storage.
• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas per infection control standards.
• Responds to spills and contamination cleanup with proper disinfection and safety measures.
• Moves furniture, floor mats, and equipment as needed for cleaning or relocations.
• Monitors cleaning supply usage and ensures safe storage and expense control.
• Communicates maintenance and repair needs to supervisor for timely resolution.
• Maintains accurate cleaning logs and reports completed tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned; maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies.
