Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking an Assistant General Counsel (Contracting/Regulatory) to join our Law Department in Boston. You will provide strategic counsel on provider and vendor agreements, regulatory compliance, and government programs including Medicare.

The ideal candidate has at least six years of contracting or regulatory experience, strong contracting skills, excellent communication, and healthcare industry knowledge. In-house experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of at least one state bar (Massachusetts).
• Minimum six years of contracting or regulatory experience.
• In-house healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to Procurement on drafting, negotiating, and evaluating vendor agreements (healthcare, software, consulting, services).
• Provide legal advice to Network Contracting on network provider agreements and regulatory issues at state and federal levels.
• Advise on compliance with state and federal law, including Medicare and data privacy/security.
• Draft and negotiate ancillary contracts such as confidentiality agreements with vendors and providers.
• Review internal and external communications for legal risk.
• Manage diverse workload to meet deadlines and business goals.
• Contribute to additional legal projects directed by Law Department leadership.
